La Vie Boheme!

Last night Rene' and I went to see the touring musical RENT at the King Center in Melbourne. It was awesome. What a great show with great music, great characters and a more modern take on traditional musicals. If you have never heard about it (which I am not sure how you couldn't have ) here is the basic synopsis: Based on Puccini's opera La bohème, the musical centers on a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Alphabet City in the early 1990s, under the shadow of AIDS. Some are gay, straight, living with aids, enduring losses, struggling to survive and trying to fight the good fight. I don't want to give to much away but all the love stories and all the friendships are relatable and touching. It is just so much fun to watch. Our friend Mary Beth came with us instead of Nina, because Nina is out on the rig right now but she was missed (sniff). Mary Beth hadn't even seen the movie yet (which I highly recommend picking up, it is so choice) so seeing it through her eyes was even more fun. We had great seats too. Down in the orchestra! In fact they were they best we have ever had for a show. A good time was had by all and totally worth the money. Go see it if you can!
